Steven Hitchins: Mesaiokeras hurei

          From the muddy substrate,

the zooplankton community of Veliko jezero

         jitter-jabs a shiver-dance.

Information on the Mesaiokeratidae is scarce.

The bulk of the night population

is always found in the depth-zone

opportunistic particle feeders,

among the relict taxa:

crystalline louse,

         gut-juice fluorescing in capsule body;

glassy exo-skulled drifter,

         nano-arms rotoring the aeons;

murk-burrower,

         antlers dowsing electrified ebb.

We are undulation-readers

translating submarine murmur,

brailling magnet-threads,

tenuous filaments of tide.

         S blatnoga dna

obitelj zooplanktona iz Velikog jezera

         jurcajući izvodi svoj treskavi ples.

Informacija o mesaiokeratidima ima malo.

         Glavnina noćne populacije

         uvijek se može zateći među

         oportunističkim filtratorima dubljih slojeva,

         od kojih su preostale ove vrste:

kristalična uš,

         želučani sokovi blješte joj u zaobljenom tijelu:

staklasti lutalica izvanjske lubanje,

         nano-ruke vrte sto na sat:

bušitelj magle,

         roščićima rujući kroz naelektriziranu plimu.

Mi smo čitači valovitosti

Prevodimo podvodni žamor

Brajicom ispisujemo magnetske poruke,

U tanašne niti plime.
